At RESCUE!, our commitment to improving our world starts with the local community.
One way we demonstrate this is by adopting a mile of the Centennial Trail that links Spokane, Washington and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Walkers, runners and bicyclists alike enjoy this beautiful, well-paved, well-traveled nature trail, which is 40 miles in length and follows the contours of the Spokane River. The RESCUE! adopted mile is 28-29, which runs northwest of the city of Spokane.
Every April, in conjunction with Earth Day, we give our stretch of the the Spokane River Centennial Trail a clean sweep during the "Unveil the Trail" event. Our employee volunteers and their family members pick up litter, pull weeds and sweep debris from the Trail so that it continues to welcome and provide enjoyment for 2.4 million users every year.
This year we had our largest-ever group of volunteers!
