Production Line Lead

SUMMARY

The Production Line Lead works with assemblers and operators to ensure the successful and accurate completion of assigned tasks, ensures verified products meet established standards of quality including reliability, usability, and performance. Approximately 20% of duties are administrative and 80% are production-floor oriented.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Quality Assurance - Interpret and implement quality assurance standards and procedures. Conduct and monitor testing and inspection of materials and products to ensure finished product quality. Review the implementation and efficiency of quality, inspection, and safety systems. Document internal audits and other quality assurance activities. Prepare reports to communicate outcomes of quality activities.
  • Production Support - Support morning start-up and admin duties, to include: turn on machines, print out BOMs/daily placards and labels, audit daily production entry paperwork, and ensure all lines have correct supplies. Respond to QA questions from line personnel, change glue barrels and film rolls, troubleshoot machines, and operate forklift.
  • Safety - Assure ongoing compliance with quality, safety, and industry regulatory requirements. Monitor risk management activities. Identify training and safety needs and organize training interventions to meet quality and safety standards.
  • Employee Relations - Train new employees and coach existing employees. Possess the ability to communicate with management and floor personnel.
  • Technology - Responsible for document management systems and scanning terminals. Evaluate audit findings and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • General Duties - Willingness to cross train on multiple machines as required. Abide by company policies and embrace and model core Sterling values. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2–4 years’ production experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. One to two years’ experience overseeing multiple employees preferred.
  • Must possess strong time management skills and the ability to learn quickly, adapt, multi-task, and meet deadlines. Must conduct self with professionalism, possess demonstrable leadership abilities, and be able to build rapport with employees and other departments.
  • Working knowledge of inventory software and order processing systems desirable.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Requires ability to lift up to 10 lbs. regularly, up to 25 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally. Environment has a variety of noise levels, and temperature varies. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk continually, and occasionally bend, kneel, or reach. Must be able to physically handle controls, tools, and objects.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
